WHO USES STOCK PHOTOGRAPHY? top
Stock photography is in every market area which uses photography. It is routinely used in advertising, annual reports, brochures, calendars, catalogs, credit cards, editorial, greeting cards, multimedia, posters, record albums, television commercials, AV shows, and the World Wide Web. Stock photography is an exciting use of images.
HOW IS MY STOCK PRODUCED? top
Photographs are produced in two basic ways. I retained rights to images produce on assignment or fund the sophisticated productions of the images specifically for stock.
HOW DO CUSTOMERS BENEFITS FROM MY STOCK PHOTOGRAPHY? top
On assignment photography, I produce images from an idea or specific event. As an art form a creative fee is applied, including travel, assistant(s), film and/or processing, talent, stylists, and other expenses. The cost can be prohibitive and there are NO GUARANTEES. (see digital assignment) Stock photography provides the alternative. What you see is what you get (WYSIWYG) unable's the user to see an image without incurring the full production costs. Another big benefit of stock photography is the ability for the customer to download and use the image right away. In today's fast paced business world there is simply no time to wait for a particular image to be produced. I have the stock readily available to provided a solution for your particular needs!
WHAT ARE SOME LIMITATIONS OF STOCK PHOTOGRAPHY? top
Your main concern maybe that the image(s) have been published before. While it is possible to buy images with exclusivity the cost will be much greater and not all images are available for exclusivity.
WHAT GOES INTO PROVIDING YOU MY STOCK IMAGES? top
Beyond capturing that unique moment in time I spend a great deal of time preparing images for sale including captioning, categorizing , key wording, displaying and setting up e-commerce for purchasing. All of this comes with no guarantee that the image will ever be sold.
WHAT FORMATS OF STOCK PHOTOGRAPHY DO I OFFER? top
I provide stock photography through a couple of sources including CD ROM both in the form of royalty free and licensed images as well as direct individual photographs purchased over the internet. In some case the original 35mm or 645mm can be made available. Original format is given with image information.
THE STEP TOWARDS A SUCCESSFUL PURCHASE: top
1. The first step is to request an images. If an image has been picked from those displayed on my site or you have a specific requirement you would contact me via E-mail. In addition you provide me with a want list which I will work to fulfill. If you are requesting an image it is vital to be as specific as possible. In addition to specific information about the photograph(s) you are requesting , you should also supply specific stats about how the image will be used. We will then discuss use fees, research fees, if applicable,, method of delivery, the time needed to hold the photograph(s) (your lease time), liability for loss and/or damage. I would be happy to fax or E-mail a sample delivery memo to new clients for them to sign prior to sending out images. Successful sales require proper paper work and discussion of terms and conditions ahead of time to protect both you and I.
2. After the request I prepare the images for delivery. I may charge a research fee ranging from $50.00 to $100.00 to cover the costs associated with this time intensive task.
3. Delivery of the images. Can be in digital form or if required I can send the original, film, image(s). Although the exact value of photographs vary each original image is valued at $1500.00 or the stipulated value on the delivery memo. With this in mind image(s) are sent via a courier service which allows it to be tracked at any given time. I will provide return courier instructions along with the delivery. The delivery memo will list vital information about the image(s) and their use. Make sure you read the delivery memo and understand the terms and conditions. At the very least make sure that the count on the image(s) you receive matches the count listed on the delivery memo. If the count is different it is important to notify me immediately of the discrepancy. The delivery memo will also routinely list the intended use of the image(s) the fee for use and the date that the images are due back to me.
4. Use of the image(s). It is vital to notify me prior to final use. My delivery memos will state that no rights of any kind are granted until payment is received in full. Further if the intended use is slightly different either in size or placement than that listed on the delivery memo you will want to negotiate with me for final approval. If the image is used without final approval you risk the consequences of intentional violation of the copyright statue.
5. Returning the image(s). Typically all images are due back within 21 days. I may charge holding fees if the images are held longer than 21 days. You may request longer if required which I may approve.
DIGITAL STOCK: top
The new digital frontier offers benefits for the buyer through real time viewing and buying of images. The Web allows the buyer to receive electronic delivery of images thus eliminating the liability and the expense of couriers.
Payment can be made via credit card and once validated access to the image is granted via FTP download is recorded.
When viewing my price list it is important to look at each category to determine the proper pricing structure for an image. The size of the image, the placement, and use are taken in to account for accurate pricing.
